I Am Whole Life...

Recently I was informed about a beautiful new movement that has started under the direction of Jason Jones, an executive producer of the movie Bella. This brand new movement is called "I Am Whole Life". It is so brand new that they haven't started their advertising campaign yet and their website is not fully complete. In any case, here is an excerpt from their website which describes this amazing new initiative:

ABOUT THE WHOLE LIFE CAMPAIGN

The mission of the Whole Life initiative is to promote a respect for the intrinsic dignity of the human person regardless of ability, age, status, ethnicity or gender.

OVER THE NEXT 20 YEARS WHOLE LIFE AMERICA AIMS TO

Remove the overriding apathy of the upcoming generation by teaching them the dignity of human life.

Shift the perception of the economic value of human life.

Being Whole Life means that you want to respect and promote human dignity—for everyone. Abortion is directly contrary to this in at least three aspects:

1) The dignity of the woman. Abortion is painful and it hurts women—just watch the third installment of The Godfather trilogy, Juno, or a South Park episode, or listen to Kid Rock, Ben Folds, or Ani DiFranco among many and you will see that this choice only leads to destruction and pain.

2) The dignity of the man. Abortion is painful and hurts men. Again listen to our artists—the Sex Pistols, Tim McGraw, or Flipsyde—their songs are painful, difficult to listen to. Their songs are about abortion.

3) The dignity of the child. Abortion is painful and hurts children. We don’t have children from the womb telling us how painful it was—they can’t. Their voices have been silenced.
Featured on the website are numerous YouTube movies that deal with being "Whole Life" and in the future they plan on having celebrity testimonies on why they are "Whole Life." The very first celebrity who has already produced a testimony is Angela Baraquio Grey, former Miss America from Hawaii.

Theology of the Body T-Shirt

Here is a Theology of the Body inspired T-Shirt:

This t-shirt is inspired by the teaching of the Theology of the Body where the earthly marriage of man and woman is said to be a foreshadowing, a foretaste, of the heavenly banquet. That heavenly banquet is previewed in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, where Christ comes down to be united His bride, the Church.

Christopher West Responds to Criticism...

Well, here it is; Christopher West responds to the heated criticism of his technique of promoting the Theology of the Body:

The Theology of the Body Debate: The Pivotal Question

When the public conversation about my work unfolded following my appearance on Nightline last May, I did not think it was wise for me to respond until I had submitted the matter to my local bishops. Now that Cardinal Justin Rigali and Bishop Kevin Rhoades have issued a statement, it seems appropriate for me to offer some reflections as well.

National Health Care Plan, what it means for Americans...

Well, as National Health Care continues to be debated in America, there are two things that should be kept in mind: the protection of the unborn and the quality of health care that will be offered to all.

What are the facts when it comes to these two issues? Here are two commercials that hit the issues right on the button:

Protection of the Unborn:

Quality of Health Care: (this sarcastic video is in response to Will Ferrell's sarcastic TV Ad in support of Health Care. )

Is 'Going Green' always ok?...

While the move for a greener, more organic way of life is generally a good thing, there are many problems when taken to the extreme. For example, many will use this opportunity to push birth control, because according to them humans are putting too much stress on the environment. This extreme in the 'Green Movement' is apparently founded on cold hard facts. However, that is not the case. In reality, it is a perpetual myth. Steve Pokorny has more:

I have long held suspicion about the so-called “Green Movement.” In case you need a refresher, it is beyond question for some members of the “intellectual elite” that the world is undergoing global warming at an alarming rate. And based on the words of Barack Obama to the U.N. recently, it would appear that the sky is falling. All of this is based on a the preconceived notion that all of the scientific community is completely in union on this scientific “fact,” even though at least 31,000 scientists beg to differ.

Now, I don’t claim to be a scientist, but a simple Google search will reveal that the idea that global warming is primarily manmade is hogwash. That’s right, it’s a myth.

[...]

So if it’s all just made up, why are people buying into this drinking The Green Agenda Cool-Aid like its going out of style? Like all myths, if it’s not grounded in reality, there simply has to be a good spin machine used to manufacture the publicity to conjure up feelings of fear, blame, and uneasiness to get people to pay attention. And one quick look at your major news outlets will reveal one heck of an ad campaign being hoisted onto an unsuspecting public.

While it is possible that human beings may play a very small role in the heating up of our planet, it is vital that we as a Christian community wake up to the huge agenda that is being rammed down our throats, and it boils down to this: The green movement is all about reducing the world’s population.

Praying with our bodies...

Prayer means a lot more than lifting our hearts to God. For Catholics it means praying with our entire selves, body and soul. Our body movements during prayer have a lot of merit and should never go unnoticed. TOB writer Joel Haubenreich has more on this subject in his latest article on TOB Exchange:

Crucial to the understanding of the necessity of physical prayer is the fundamental Christian belief that we do not merely have bodies, but in fact are bodies. At Mass we profess our belief in the resurrection of the body, our hope in the reunification of our whole persons. Our bodies will on that day be rejoined to our souls, and we will once more be complete. Our bodies, then, here on earth must have a part in every action, even spiritual actions. We must, taking seriously Jesus’ charge to “love the Lord you God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind,” commit ourselves fully to his service, using every faculty given to us.
